Day 2- Antelope Canyon

We got off to an early start (very impressive considering how late we got in), and started truckin’ to Page, Arizona. Jess and Lauren did the driving while Katie navigated and Sue….slept. After arriving in Page we went straight to Antelope Canyon and did the lower canyon tour. It was AMAZING. We snapped about 500 pictures. The canyon is a slot canyon that was formed over thousands of years. At points the walls had to be 100ft high, and our awesome tour guide told us that each 6inches represents 10,000 yrs!! The tour was great because it was basically only us and one other couple, so we practically had the canyon to ourselves.

After the tour, we headed to the campsite…in the nicest campground we’ve ever seen. (It even has wifi…hence the post). The campground is right on Lake Powell and the scenery is incredible.  We set up camp, and headed to the lake. It took us about an hour to find a way down to the lake, but it made the dip even better. Lauren couldn’t hang, so she was the photographer. It was freezing!! Although very refreshing! We skipped some rocks, bathed a bit in the lake (Sue even shampooed), and headed back to camp.

By the time we were out of the water hunger had set in and we made a feast of Shrimp tacos, complete with guacamole and corn salsa.  Our slot tour guide recommended we check out a scenic viewpoint for sunset called the Horseshoe Bin. It was a little scary standing on the edge of this massive cliff, but the well worth the views.

Now we are roastin’ a couple mallows and drinking some 2buck chuck before we hit the hay. Anther early morning ahead of us…we are headed to the Arches tomorrow!

Day 1- Las Vegas

First stop-Vegas Baby! Sue, Jess and Lauren met Katie in Las Vegas for a day of Vegas shenanigans. They arrived around noon to a very tired Katie who has already had 2 days of shenanigans for Jhana’s bachelorette party. After suiting up, we headed out to the MGM’s pool party, Wet Republic. Despite the crazy wind storm and a couple sprinkles the pool was awesome. Sue batted her eyelashes and got us in fo-free!! We got our dance on, met some new friends and had a couple (well maybe a little more than a couple) drinks. We overcame our first hiccup with the loss of a phone and watch….the watch might have to wait, but a new phone will arrive in Omaha and it is an upgrade from the lost phone, Bonus!

 

After the pool party, we re-fueled and hit the town. FYI: Vegas is CrAzY during memorial day weekend!! It took a bit of rifling through the crowds but Sue, Lauren and Katie ended up have a great time at the Bellagio, breaking hearts and taking names.  J

Rollin on 2 hours of sleep, next destination: Antelope Canyon.  (we may not be able to upload until Day3 since we will be out in the sticks)

ROAD TRIP USA

Jessica, Sue, Lauren and Katie are embarking on a journey around the US. The main destination is Omaha for our best friend Monica’s wedding, although we are definitely taking the scenic route there and back. After strategically mooching food and supplies from each of our parents, our van is packed with camping gear, sassy dresses and everything else a couple girls might need for a cross-country trip. Thanks parentals (especially Chris for letting us use the van)!!!!!! This blog is for friends and family to follow our trip.
